Volunteer

Our club is getting bigger and better, which means there are plenty of great opportunities to get involved and support us. As part of club membership, we ask all members to either lead a ride or volunteer at a club time trial event once per year.

There are also many other ways you can give back and support the club - find out more below and if you have any questions please do get in touch at [email protected]

Keep the volunteering up!

Leading Rides

+

Rides are the backbone of our club and for rides to happen we need members to lead them. Without members volunteering to lead rides, we simply wouldn’t be a cycling club! There is no special training required, but we do provide support and advice in various ways throughout the year to help you if you’d like it. More information can be found here and also on our Ride Leading Forum Facebook Group

Time Trials

+

We all love a time trial pain cave, but sometimes it's nice just to watch other people suffering instead! We run a series of club time trial events throughout the spring/summer and we always need helpers to run sign on, stand at roundabouts, act as stopwatch time lords or take pictures of us gurning. A call for volunteers is usually posted on Facebook in the lead up to each event - so just look out for these and sign up!

Racing

+

We're proud to host a round of the Oxfordshire Road Race League (ORRL), and in the past we have also hosted a Condors cyclocross event! Similar to the time trials, for these events we will need help with sign on, marshalling and photo bombing. You can even help scope out the best place for cheerleading - aka Condor's corner!

Bike Oxford

+

We're extremely lucky to work with Iconic Cycling Events on our local sportive and it takes a good bit of manpower over the weekend. From putting up signs the day before, taking them down afterwards, manning the feed stations, helping with sign on or handing out finisher medals, there are lots of jobs that need doing. If you're not riding this year please consider volunteering and you'll get free entry the following year!

Become a British Cycling Accredited Marshall

+

An accredited marshal is a marshal who has been trained to use the ‘Stop! Cycle Race’ sign to legally stop and hold traffic to allow the safe passage of a cycle race on the open highway. Accredited marshals play a vital role in enabling road races in the UK to happen - including many events which our Condors Men’s and Women’s race teams take part in.

Find out more here on the British Cycling website. Accredited marshals get free British Cycling Bronze membership.
