Condors are well known in Oxford for being friendly and inclusive.
We welcome people from all backgrounds regardless of sex, gender, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, body shape, age – the list goes on. This is really important to us so we have created specific Diversity and Inclusion aims, appointed our first Diversity & Inclusion officer, Negin Jalalian, and created a D&I committee to work on this. The aims are:
- Ensure our membership reflects our local community
- Enable equal access to opportunities
- Be a supportive ally to underrepresented groups
- Demonstrate effective leadership within Equality, Diversity and Inclusion
To achieve this we will do the following:
- Forge partnerships with local organisations representing diverse communities
- Record data on demographics of our membership and track progress
- Make adjustments to events to ensure a safe space for everyone
- Challenge behaviour that is disrespectful or excluded
- Plan, deliver and participate in community events celebrating diversity
Not only do we welcome diversity in riders, we love diversity in riding, so if you’d like to try something new, we’d love to have you along. From social rides to audax, racing to off road, bike packing or camping, there is something for everyone.
We are particularly proud of our strong female membership (over 100 riders!) and our involvement in Outspoken – a weekend of brilliant talks, panels and rides.
